Hahaha, this is cool, I have an announcer all to myself. (PS- this seems to only work for Internet Explorer, and I think some Netscape, so if you can't see the above text doing cool things, it's not my fault.)

An unexpected remodeling(The following paragraph is copy-and-pasted from an e-mail because I didn't want to type the whole thing all over again!
My mom wanted to replace the handles to the door of her cabinet. They're old, ugly and also get easily tangled with things. We visited a lot of hardware stores, and, long story short, we found out that they don't make handles in that size anymore. (We need the same size to fit in the old holes, see.) So someone advised us to just use wood filler and fill in the old holes and then we could buy any handles we wanted, and just drill new holes and install. Peice o cake, right? Well there was one teensy problem. The cabinets, being old, are also very dark. Wood filler... is light. So you have nice, shiny new handles and big ugly blotchs of wood filler where the old holes were. So... we repainted the whole darn thing. And since my parents were doing their bathroom, we *injured* (animal-rights!) two birds with one stone and did my bathroom too. So everything is done now; my dad just finished installing the handles today, which was just the finishing touch at this point, ironically. When you were little, did you ever read the "When You Give a Mouse a Cookie" book? That's what it reminded me of! But it was real work! It was good though. That, and we just sanded/sealed/waterproofed our deck about two weeks ago, too.
So, I unexpectedly remodeled my bathroom. And I say the whole bathroom because the cabinet (in my bathroom, at least) is the most prominent feature since it makes up a small countertop surface, plus the sink, and drawers and doors underneath.Other than what's been going on at home, I also have been doing data-entry nonstop. I swear if I did one more consecutive day of data entry, I would be officially classified as a disgruntled worker. But, next week I get to work on my research again! Yay! Mollusca:Ancylidae, here I come!Oh, also, for those who get to live in Seattle (and who go to the UW), you all need to visit the Suzallo Reading Room. Even if you don't go to the UW, as long as you live closeby, go see it. I knew for a little while that it had been open, but I didn't actually see it until KT prompted me by saying how magnificent it is. And it's certainly not over-rated. Although there's not much to do except stare at it, but if you stay really still, it's weird how quiet it is. I did an illegal thing and ate my lunch in there today, hiding behind the wood-and-glass wall on the right end. There was something etched above me saying something about books show the minds of creative men or seomthing (lack of women, duly noted). It was a cool quote, though, if only I remembered what it said....my soul will rise into perfect light/I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night. Crap, I have to try and find the first half of the first line to complete that quote, but it's been running in my head. I can't remember who said it exactly, but it was an astronomer.

But I have the whole house to myself on their anniversary, in the evening.... bwahahaha..... We went to Ikea again! Oh all praise that land of trendiness and value prices!
