I spent my first roll of film on my new camera yesterday--it only took 5 hours, too. And it's not like I went anywhere interesting, it was just at home: cats, out the window, house decorations, stuff like that.
I went to see Lord of the Rings today!!! It was SO much better than the first one. And it was SOOO good!! I liked the first one, it was okay, but for some reason it didn't really satisfy me. The second one was actually BETTER than the book, as if that was possible. Well... the Two Towers novel admittedly dragged a little on family histories which are only really necessary if you plan on continuing on to the Silmarillion. Which I have been planning on doing since I finished The Return of the King three years ago, but somehow (sarcastic emphasis on "somehow" due to the inevitable boring-ness of the book) never got around to it. Instead I read the little fairy tales that Tolkein wrote that have nothing to do with Middle Earth. They were cute, I recommend them if you can find them. I read those on the week-long trip up from Houston to Seattle, the summer after my junior year.
Also, I finished my essay for the scholarship. I'm very pleased with it, I really hope I get something. Grr, I better get something... :)

Well I'm not so anti-impulsive as I thought I was.
Okay so I gave in and bought my Minolta. :) I spent about twice as much as the maximum I was preparing myself to depart with, so I'm still in shock that I spent quite that much but I think that if I hadn't spent so much I wouldn't be as giddy about it. You see, what really cost me was the lens. Instead of buying it with the standard 28-90 lens (short range of "zoom" capability) I bought it with a 28-200 lens (much much nicer -- better close-ups). It's exactly what I wanted. I tended to do a lot of close-ups with my point-and-shoot but all you'd be able to make out would be a black splotch or a big blur.... Other than that though I hadn't thought about the little accessories like the UV lens (not necessary but it protects my expensive lens from scratching -- it screws into the front. One scratch and I would have to buy a whole new lens! God forbid...), the carrying pouch, and the warranty. None of them cost very much but it added up.... Anyway like I said I'm in shock but I'm happy.
I'm still learning how to use it. I'm reading the manual like a novel! But it's an interactive novel because I can look over to my camera and do what they're talking about. haha
Other than that not much else going on. I'll be writing an essay to try and get a scholarship. It hasn't gone very well so far. I decided to blog instead.

Hi All!
You might notice a slight change in template.... ^-^ This is the template I made over the summer that combined both Regina's and Jadzia's ideas in doing a feline thing and a Hobbes thing. And now my title "Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat" makes more sense I'm sure. Oh and Bin, I'm aware the link to your blogg is currently unavailable, I'm trying to fix that. Apologies until it's fixed.
Oh it feels so good to be on break.... My ginormous cat, Ginger, is sitting on my lap right now, purring like crazy, paying to regards to the fact I'm deathly allergic to cats. I'm happy now, but I don't be in fifteen minutes.... :)
I'm going to buy myself a camera! With what I worked at the Burke over the summer, I can finally buy myself a good SLR (single-lens reflex, what-you-see-is-what-you-get) 35mm camera with the interest I've made alone! I love credit unions. For now, it looks like I'll be getting a Minolta Maxxum 5. And, it looks like I'll be getting it in... March.... I'm not exactly an impulse buyer. Well, who knows, I might buy it sooner. Now my pictures won't turn out so much less majestic than they looked in my mind's eye!
Oh and Christmas is coming up soon... Whee!
Need a cheap card? Need it fast? I found a new website: MyCardMaker.com
Also, I found a really good pianist: the one who did the music for Orisinal. Visit Steven Cravis' Personal Website, or listen to his music on MP3 for free on streaming audio.
Update December 24th: I saw the movie Scotland, Pa yesterday. It's a very cool movie. (Black comedy and based on Shakespeare's Macbeth.)
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year everyone!
