Since no one checks my blog anymore I'll just continue to practice my Spanish, since I don't have a spanish class anymore.

Wow. I haven't been that busy in a long time. Actually I don't think I've EVER been THAT busy for that extent of time.
18 credits plus working during classes for the first time has certainly taken its toll on me. It's weird, though; I'm really enjoying pushing myself to the limit. I'm tired but I'm always in an incredibly good mood. I just complain about it all the time because I keep thinking people will become jealous of me and wish me to shut up. I feel invigorated! Too bad I don't have time to study.
Of course, I am quite aware that I'm peaking. I can't keep doing this all quarter, it'd kill me, so next week (or possibly the following week), I'll ask for a few hours to be shaved off.
I went to an art show today. I feel so upper crust...
hahaha not really. My parents help out at the Peruvian consulate. So, the consulate is organizing this thing where he's trying to help Peruvian art come more into the mainstream art, and meanwhile helping Peruvian artisans take their art around the country and around the world, if possible. Well, he's been planning this for a long time and today was the first stage if you will.
We're all just getting our feet wet, to see how things go; it was just the first artist to come up out of (hopefully) many. The people invited were people who have volunteered to help out (such as my family), other consulate members and even the mexican consulate. There were hors d'ouvres, and a live band playing (good) Peruvian music. (As opposed to tourist-grade Peruvian music.) Most importantly, I fell in love with one of the paintings but I don't really have $600 lying around... So I had my dad buy a $12 print of another cool painting. Not as cool as the one I liked, but still very nice.
Poor Heidi! She has an exam coming up on Monday and she asked me for help because I'm a so-called Zoology major. So I should know about Biology things, right? Well, cruelly, she's going over the nervous system (for her biopsych class) and we JUST started that today. So we obviously haven't gotten as in-depth as she needs. So there wasn't anything I could do except give her general "study tips" for how to study for any bio material. The kind of stuff I know works but I never do it.
Speaking of Zoology and exams and studying, I had my first midterm this morning. I know, crazy. What's crazier is that since I've been so busy working and settling into my schedule, that I haven't had time to study. So I crammed the night before. And I had my 7:30 shift that morning. Yeah. I was alert for the exam, but the rest of the day I was zombie-like. My eyes started to close my themselves. Which was not working when I got to biology because we watched a video of a guy with hypothyroidism. He was very... very.. sleepy.. and talked very... very... slowly.. and sighed a lot. But after watching the video I'm convinced that Eeyore has hypothryroidism. He's overweight, has trouble picking up his feet when he walks (he drags his feet), he has an abnormally low voice, he talks slowly because of the labour it takes to move his muscles, etc, etc. The list of classic symptoms Eeyore is exhibiting goes on! This donkey needs immediate medical attention!
In other news, I watched The Core on Wednesday night with the GeoClub. It was so funny. I really enjoyed going with friends so we could bash it afterwards.

A Sorta Fairytale by Tori Amos

On my way up north
up on the Ventura I
pulled back the hood
and I was talking to you and I
knew then it would be
a Life Long thing but I didn't
know that we
We could break a silver lining

And I'm
so sad
like a good book
I can't put this
day back
a sorta fairy tale with you
a sorta fairy tale with you

things you said that day
up on the 101 the
girl had come undone
I tried to downplay it with a
bet about us
You said that you'd take it as
long as I could
I could not erase it

And I'm so sad
like a good book
I can't put this
day back
a sorta fairy tale with you
a sorta fairy tale with you

and I ride along side
and I rode along side
You then
and I rode along side
till you lost me
there in the open road
And I rode along side
till the honey spread
itself so thin
for me to break your bread
for me to take your word
I had to steal it

And I'm so sad
like a good book
I can't put this
day back
a sorta fairy tale with you
a sorta fairytale with you
I could pick back up
whenever I feel

down New Mexico way
something about the open road
I knew that he was
looking for some Indian Blood and
find a little in you
find a little in me
we may be on
this road but
We're just imposters
in this country you know
So we go along and we said we'd fake it
feel better with Oliver Stone
till I almost smacked him -
seemed right that night and
I don't know what takes hold
out there in the Desert cold
These guys think they must
Try and just get over on us

And I'm so sad
like a good book
I can't put this
day back
a sorta fairy tale with you
a sorta fairy tale with you

and I was ridin' by
ridin' along side
for a while
till you lost me and I was
ridin' by
ridin' along till you
lost me
till you lost me in
The Rear View
you lost me

way up North I took my day
all in all was a pretty nice day and I
put the Hood
right back where
You could taste heaven
perfectly
Feel out the summer breeze
didn't know when we'd be back and I
I don't didn't think
We'd end up like
like this

"Recent surveys provide hope that growth of the human population is slackening. Between 1970 and 2000 the annual growth rate decreased from 1.9% to 1.33%. At 1.33%, it will take nearly 53 years for the world population to double rather than 36.5 years at the higher annual growth rate. The decrease is credited to better family planning. Nevertheless, half the global population is under 25 years old and most live in developing countries where access to reliable contraception is limited or nonexistent. Thus, despite the drop in growth rate, the greatest surge lies ahead, with a projected 3 billion people added within the next three decades, the most rapid increase ever in human numbers."

Another thought for the day (now that I have time to post things): Is the pursuit of happiness the only thing that motivates us, or are we searching for other ends and happiness is just a by-product? (In other words, or perhaps a slightly different question,) What is the ultimate motivator for both our every-day and long-term goals?
Paraphrased from my Intro to Ethics class.

I'd like to see if I can get people to post comments on either subject, though I expect the last one leaves more to be discussed.

Also, I was posting a message on Gina's blog (see left for list of friend's blogs) and I spell checked it. The result was funny. (My message in italics; red letters are "misspelled" words.)
Hey Gina!
It's Andrea. I finally had time to post something on my blog, so I thought I'd check yours. And, much to my delight, I saw I had a mention!
I don't think they'd send the spanish AT&T people after you, though. I think, more likely, they would say "AH! MEXICANS!" and decide you're too poor to buy anything from them. I'm sure they wouldn't even think to check for the Peruvian accent.
More realistically speaking, next time they call, tell them "I'm not interested, please take me off the list." Then they are obliged by law to not call for 12 months. And you'll be looking for a new apartment soon, anyway, so that should keep them busy till you have a new phone number.
Check out my blog! I'm trying to start a philosophical discussion on my site, but with my friends, I'm sure it would turn out funny. Or at least amusing. But if not, it would be kind of neat to see someone's views on the subject.
Andrea
